Inspiring Innovation Since 2013
SuperNOVA started off as a very small team in 2013, when two students from two different schools approached the Osbourn Park First Robotics Competition (FRC) coach about starting a county-wide FRC team and they agreed to house us. During our first year of competition, comprised of only 10 members, we won the Rookie All-Star Awards at both Virginia District and World Championships. Due to various circumstances, the team almost dissolved in 2017, as we couldn’t support ourselves. Later that year, a Woodbridge HS coach offered to take us in. We lost everything, but our determination during the transition, and only eight members remained. Five years later, our team has grown to over 40 members, representing six high schools (Patriot, Woodbridge, Forest Park, John Paul, Colgan, and Gainesville High Schools) across Prince William County (PWCS), due to increased outreach and recruitment. We’ve won numerous awards over the years, and have qualified for World Championships every single season since 2018.
