What is FRC?

The First Robotics Competition, or FRC for short, is an international competition for high schoolers where students are given less than eight weeks to design, fund, build, and program a large robot to compete in a game in which robots perform various tasks to win. The game itself changes yearly, but a few core concepts are always the same, such as each team producing one robot and competing in an "alliance" of three teams against another alliance of three teams. Students are put to work under strict regulations, pushing themselves to be as creative and inventive as possible. Over 8,000 teams participate in FRC worldwide, from smaller local events to district championships, culminating at the end of every season in the FRC World Championship.
